I sat in church a couple of months ago, and a young man, during his address, said these astounding words, 'why am I here,' is the most frequently asked question in Google Search Engine, and at the time, I just thought, 'how sad'.Then I remembered that when I was young, that was true of me, even though I had a church upbringing. Why are so many scientists adamant that God doesn't exist, that life began with a 'big bang' but every time they speak of the 'universe' they are unwittingly speaking of God.Uni means one, and universe means one verse, 'in the beginning God' from the first verse in the Bible.I have always felt the youngsters of today to be terribly disadvantaged just because they are taught that, 'we descend from apes' and the 'big bang theory' was the start of it all.Who can they turn to in time of trouble? At my friends grandsons' school his class was asked,"how many can say the Lord's Prayer? Her grandson was the only one, and the reason for that, he was born in Zimbabwe and prayer was the only thing people had at times.Eighteen months ago my son thought he was dying in hospital, and although he doesn't believe in God, when he thought he was dying, he tried to say the Lord's prayer.Sadly he couldn't remember the Lords Prayer, but had enough strength to download it from the Internet via his iPhone. However he was covered in prayer, and made a good recovery.A few days after I heard that people are having to ask Google 'why are they here?' the thought came to me to set up a website and write a blog or two telling or attempting to answer that question. It is a most profound question after all.If we don't know why we are here, if we don't know that God exists, if we don't know that there is a life after death, than we haven't got a rudder to steer our lifeboat with, we are just aimlessly drifting, and when the storms of life come, and they do come, whether you are a believer of not, when they come, to whom can you turn?We are born with free will. You never have to teach a young child to do wrong, you have to help them to know the difference between right and wrong. When we live lives that have integrity, and are right because we aren't breaking the law, there is a certain amount of happiness in that, just because we have no fear that the police are coming to arrest us.There is always a certain satisfaction in living right, but at the same time there is an emptiness within that only the Holy Spirit can fill.We are body, soul and spirit, but until we actively invite Jesus into our heart, our spirit isn't active. That is another story. At the moment all that is important is that we start to ask our selves the question, does God exist, why are we here, what is it all about, what is the purpose of it all.Nothing matters though if we don't first believe that God exists. If God doesn't exist then there is no plan or purpose for our lives, we can please ourselves, within the limits of the law, do our own thing, and hope for the best.Of course that means that there is no after life, when one dies that is the end of it all. That is an awful thought, and I am so glad that in the depths of my sorrows and troubles that God drew me and Jesus wooed me and I gave my heart to Him and committed my life completely to following Him, and He made all the crooked paths in my life straight, and even though it wasn't immediate, even though it took years to put right, I am so thankful today that He reached out to me and I accepted Him, and now I have a plan and purpose for my life, and that is simply to have a greater relationship with Him.If God doesn't exist why do so many people say they have no shadow of doubt that He does exist. Why is there such a difference between people who do believe in God, and have committed their lives to Him and Jesus, and people who are living for themselves and doing life, 'their way.' Could it be that people just don't want to be obedient, and want to do their 'own thing'.After all one of the most popular songs sung at a secular funeral is 'I did it my way', by Frank Sinatra. There is also a huge difference between religion and having a relationship with God.Religion simply means people are trying to be good enough so they will get to heaven, and it is an impossible task, no-one can be good enough.Having a relationship with God and Jesus is so completely different. It is by Grace that we are saved, and it is the Holy Spirit who does the work within us, and helps us to change. But we must be willing to put Him first and be obedient to His Commandments. This isn't about religion, this is about having a relationship with God.Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words. and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.John 14 v 23.To me that is what it is all about, Jesus in me and I in Him.This isn't about religion, this is about having a relationship with God,.
